About CGPAPercent.in

India's trusted CGPA to Percentage calculator, supporting 57+ universities with official conversion formulas.

CGPAPercent.in is an independent education reference and calculation website focused on CGPA, SGPA, grading systems and university-specific academic conversion rules in India.

Our calculators and explanatory pages are built to solve a common problem: Indian universities do not all calculate or convert academic grades in the same way. A formula that is correct for one university, programme or regulation year can be wrong for another.

CGPAPercent.in currently covers 57+ Indian universities and also publishes reference material explaining how credits, grade points, SGPA, CGPA, percentage conversion, transcripts and university regulations work.

What We Do

Our main purpose is to help students understand and use the academic rules that apply to their own university.

This includes:

  • CGPA to percentage calculators based on university-specific rules;

  • percentage to CGPA and SGPA conversion tools where an applicable method can be established;

  • guides to university grading systems and conversion formulas;

  • worked calculations showing how academic results are derived;

  • explanations of credits, grade points, SGPA, CGPA and earned credits;

  • research into regulation-year, batch and programme differences;

  • guidance for reading marksheets, transcripts and other academic documents.

The calculators are free to use and do not require an account.

Why University-Specific Research Matters

There is no single CGPA-to-percentage formula that applies to every Indian university.

Some institutions use a direct multiplier such as CGPA × 10. Others use ×9.5, an equation containing an offset, different formulas for different CGPA ranges, or a university-issued conversion table. Some programmes use grading scales other than 10 points.

Rules can also change within the same university. A student admitted under a 2018 scheme may not follow the same grading or conversion rule as a student admitted under a 2022 or 2025 regulation.

For this reason, we do not treat formulas such as CGPA × 9.5 or CGPA × 10 as universal Indian formulas.

How We Research University Rules

Where a calculator or article describes a university rule as official, we aim to establish it from a primary institutional or regulatory source.

Our research prioritises:

  1. official university websites;

  2. university ordinances, regulations, statutes and directions;

  3. official examination and academic notifications;

  4. university handbooks, prospectuses and curriculum documents;

  5. official PDFs published by the university;

  6. relevant statutory or government bodies where the rule originates there.

Third-party education websites are not treated as substitutes for a university regulation when the primary document is available.

We Check the Scope of a Formula, Not Just the Formula

Finding a formula on a university website is only part of the research.

We also look for the academic context in which it applies, including:

  • programme or faculty;

  • admission year;

  • regulation year;

  • CBCS, NEP or other academic scheme;

  • undergraduate or postgraduate level;

  • later amendments or corrections;

  • rounding instructions;

  • grading scale;

  • other limitations stated in the source.

This distinction is important because an official rule can still be the wrong rule for a particular student if it belongs to another programme or batch.

How We Handle Changes and Older Regulations

University grading systems change over time. A newer regulation does not necessarily replace the rule followed by students admitted under an older scheme.

When different rules apply to different cohorts, our goal is to preserve those distinctions rather than silently replacing an older formula with the newest one available.

Where an official source is unclear, incomplete or limited to a particular programme, we aim to state that limitation rather than presenting an assumption as an official university rule.

What a Calculator Result Means

A CGPAPercent.in calculator performs the conversion represented by the rule configured for the selected institution or academic context.

The result should be used as an academic calculation aid, not as a replacement for a university-issued marksheet, transcript, conversion certificate or degree document.

If your university has already printed an equivalent percentage on an official academic record, that university-issued value should normally take precedence over an independently calculated result.

Similarly, if a university, employer, credential evaluator or examination authority provides its own instructions for reporting CGPA or percentage, follow those instructions.

Accuracy and Corrections

We regularly review university rules as the database expands and as institutions publish new regulations, amendments and academic schemes.

Academic regulations can be revised, archived or replaced, and universities sometimes publish different rules for different faculties or admission batches. If you find a calculator or article that appears inconsistent with a current official university document, we want to know.

When reporting a possible correction, it is especially helpful to include the university name, programme, admission year or scheme and a link or copy of the relevant official regulation.

Independent From Universities

CGPAPercent.in is an independent website and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by any university.

University names are used to identify the institutions whose publicly available academic rules are being explained or implemented in our tools.

We do not issue marksheets, transcripts, conversion certificates or academic qualifications, and we cannot alter a result issued by a university.

Our Editorial Approach

Our reference content is written for students who need a direct academic answer rather than generic education advice.

We aim to distinguish clearly between:

  • a UGC or national framework and an individual university rule;

  • a current regulation and an archived one;

  • a general university rule and a programme-specific rule;

  • an official formula and a commonly circulated unofficial formula;

  • an exact academic result and an estimated conversion.

Worked examples used in our guides are created to explain calculations and should not be interpreted as actual student records.
